The culture of individualism and freedom from Federal oppression is much less today, but still exists. I believe the reason this film is such a huge cult film in the South is that it reminds us that not too long ago many of our ancestors were still willing to take on the tyrant face to face. We are, alas, just a pale copy of those who went before. Truly one of the most under-appreciated films of the 50s, due in no small part to the overwhelmingly Yankee composition of the critics' circles. They couldn't possibly understand the film. It's a Southern thing. Reviewed by DrHypersonic An Overlooked Gem Thunder Road is an outstanding film and occupies an interesting place in Mitchum's evolution as an actor. It is a compelling and believable look at the moonshine-running culture of the Appalachian Mountains, pitting moonshiners not only against Alcohol, Tax, and Firearms (ATF) agents and state authorities but, as well, against organized crime seeking to control the trade for their own ends. Mitchum is thoroughly believable in the kind of role--a rural, Scots-Irish mountaineer--that many others have tried and failed at.

But first they have to get there and this is where the ambitious parents come into play, who are featured in this series, as we get to follow five feisty Chicago moms pushing their boys to become the next Michael Jordan. These women will do everything in their power to get their youngsters to where they need to be – at least in their mom-opinion. Obviously, as this is a reality TV series on Lifetime, there will be lots of screaming, arguing, hair flipping, phone swiping and head wobbling, as these feisty ladies make up the new show Bringing Up Ballers. Maybe, viewers are getting tired of this sort of TV entertainment, as this is nothing new by any means and basically just endorses another set of wanna-be famous women craving the lime light. The very low overall rating of just 3. 8 out of 10 stars on IMDb just proves my point and this show might be over before it truly began.
