Hey all, I'm new to this sub. As a child and early teenager, I used to love reading fantasy novels. Obviously my favorites included Tolkien & Rowling. I used to love Eragon too, but recently I read a few articles about how the author was accused of plagiarism in regards to stealing ideas. Which is why I'm wondering how one can discern between inspiration and plagiarization. For example, I know a lot of fantasy writers use races inspired by Tolkien (orcs as brutish, elves as noble & woodsy, dwarves as forgers living in the mountains). But wouldn't this be considered stealing ideas? One day, I hope to write at a fantasy novel, and so I would like to know the parameters so that I don't commit plagiarism!

The sense of sadness the ending portrays is palpable, and it is the same sadness that you feel for the series as this being the end of this arc in the tale of the Inheritance universe. The way that the story ends in Inheritance is one where you can still see the depth of their bond, which has progressed from the start of it in Eragon/Eldest where it was just a friendship to Brisingr and Inheritance where you start to see trust, companionship and a closeness that developed. At the end of Inheritance you begin to appreciate the blossoming of a relationship between them, a bond when they share their true names one of the most precious things to give to a person, even up to the point where they say their farewells. But even though this is the end of this arc, it also heralds the beginning of a new arc, where we shall see the same characters and themes in the sequel. I am hoping that in the future whenever Christopher Paolini chooses to return to Alagaësia and continue Eragon's story that he decides to develop the relationship between Arya and Eragon, so that it becomes one that we can call an epic romance, one that outlasts all trials (their age difference, him being a human-elf hybrid, she an elf- which I know that such relationships in the past have ended badly, and separation), and one that has a happy ending.

Were you happy with how it played out? Do you wish they could have stayed together? For a long time, since I finished Inheritance the week it came out I always wanted Eragon and Arya to be together, and after reading the Fanficition, Return of the Shur'Tugal(). Here is how I wished for it to turn out. I am of the romantic sort, so this might just be that side speaking, but Im curious as to your opinions. Thank you for the responses ahead of time.

Paolini did such a great job making the fractalverse an interesting place that even during the slower sections I spent my time theorizing what else could exist out there amongst the stars or what challenges may get thrown at our heroes next! With that in mind, there were a few criticisms that I had. The main one that comes to mind, is that around the mid section of the book (I think 😅) Kira just starts going around the ship and pressing each of the characters for their back stories, or getting the information from other crew members of the Wallfish, almost back to back. It felt almost like the payoff of the loyalty missions in Mass Effect 2 or something like that, only that I still felt like the characters hadn't spent enough time with kira, or done enough with her for them to begin bearing their souls. The characters back stories were interesting, and I am glad that we got to learn more about them, but it just felt like there was a more organic way for Kira to learn about them, or that the majority of their histories could have been better spread out throughout the book, rather than clustered together in sections.

They are shaped almost identically to a phone case with the back removed. These serve both as a method of payment and a vector for outgoing calls. Can you elaborate about the postpaid circumcards? I'm afraid I haven't heard of them before now, and am hesitant to accept money in a way I'm not familiar with. Did Eragon ever find out about Roran's punishment for his insubordination? I feel like Nasuada may have purposefully kept it from him in order to avoid distracting him, but I can't help but think that it surely must have come up at some point. Whether in conversation with Roran or with one of the many Varden that witnessed it. I imagine Eragon might feel some type of way about Nasuada doling out that punishment to his cousin, even if he did understand her reasoning behind it. Did I miss something? Or did CP ever mention anything regarding this? Apologies in advance for the vague wording. I don't want to reveal too much in case anyone who hasn't read it yet sees this.

level 1 Not all that long a book, but Black God's Kiss by C. L. Moore is a collection of short works following Jirel, Lady of Castle Joiry and badass bitch extraordinaire. She battles bandits, wizards, evil godlike beings and more. Highly, highly recommend. level 1 Get into Brandon Sandersons cosmere books. You've already read mistborn which is a great jumping off point. I'd recommend reading mistborn era 2 but you can start with any series really. level 2 I have read most of cosmere except the ones without women leads. level 1 I might look into Tess of the Road. It takes place in a high fantasy universe but is mostly about the characters mind and past. If you're looking for something more actiony- the sword of Shannara, elfstones of Shannara and the wishsong of Shannara are excellent though only one of the books features a female lead. level 1 The wheel of time series has a lot of female leads, and is similar to the mistborn series. It was also finished off by Brandon Sanderson. level 2 Read the entire wheel of time, thanks:) the main character is male hence didnt put it in my post.

He is carrying that knife. Tomorrow you will stand beside it and every other tomorrow until the horror is too much and you come to me and ask for a transfer. They didn't send you here as a scout, or even as a Corporal. They sent you here as a test. You will either quit or get promoted. Good luck. " At that he left, his feathers settling back to normal. Corporal Asist sat at the table for quite a long time. ==================================================================================== My Patreon, if anyone wants to support my writing or read my new stuff. For some reason, this is the one I'm leaning more heavily towards, because not only is it a cyclical thing (Eragon I screws up with magic, and since Eragon II is named after him, he does as well), but it also presents two possible theories for why Eragon I's death isn't recorded: 1) he banished himself from Alagaësia out of fear for what he did and magicked most records out of existence as well or 2) Angela banished him and magicked most records of him out of existence out of revenge. This part is more far-reaching, especially because the only evidence I can think for this latter reason is the whole "is Eragon who you are or is it your name? " thing in the first book, but I could definitely see it happening and see Angela having to undo what she did in order for them to defeat the villains of Book 5 (.. maybe he is the villain?? Who knows). I honestly probably could go on after this, but I have a feeling I'm running out of characters so I'll just cut it off here. Feel free to agree/disagree in the comments.

R1 is purely a sword fight, with EoS versions of both characters Percy Jackson and Eragon meet each other and get to talking about their past fights and are impressed by what the other says. They decide to have a duel to see who would win in a sword fight R2 is purely them using their abilities to see who was stronger in that regard R3 they're using both to fight to the death and have knowledge from previous rounds (though neither will go for instant kills since I feel that would take the fun out of it) Edit cause I'm an idiot: R1 is in the middle of an open pain. R2 is at a beach R3 is at the same beach
