When you think of actress Gauthami Nair, the song Thottu Thottu Onnu Nokkamo Onnu Thottavadi Ninne from her film Diamond Necklace comes to the mind. However, during the title unveiling event of her debut directorial Vruttham that was held in Kochi on Friday, she looks nothing like a thottavadi. In fact, her belief in the cast and crew of the Sunny Wayne-starrer exudes a lot of positive vibes. During the chat, Gauthami, who is venturing into new territory with direction, is quick to add that the film is not her second coming in any way. "I had not gone anywhere. People just forgot that I existed (laughs), " she says. Excerpts from the conversation: You were active as an actor before pursuing studies and your marriage with director Srinath Rajendran. You are back now, but not as an actor but a director. How did that happen? I was thinking about direction while I was a few years into acting. I have always been surrounded by passionate filmmakers and that inspired me to do something on my own.
